Story about Steve

Solving Problems

I have always had a deep love for science and a curiosity about how things work. When I first read stories about Thomas Edison and his inventions, I became fascinated by the concept of light bulbs and why they could emit light while regular copper wires couldn’t. To satisfy my curiosity, I decided to conduct a little experiment. I connected a naked wire between two points in a power socket to see what would happen.

To my surprise, there was a sudden boom, and the entire room went dark. Thankfully, I emerged unharmed from my impromptu investigation. As I progressed through high school and university, I delved into the fields of physics and mathematics, thinking I had learned all there was to know about the universe.

However, it wasn’t until I entered the workforce and got married that I encountered a significant question mark in my life: money. I found myself wondering where all my money was going, as there weren’t many lessons in high school or university that addressed personal finance. Perhaps I hadn’t paid much attention to them if they were covered at all. This realization became a major catalyst for my decision to pursue a career in financial management.

How It Happened

In 1991, I made the move to Australia, where I initially worked as a high school teacher. However, in 1993, I made a transition to the real estate industry. It was during my time in realty that I witnessed numerous instances of people making and losing money in various ways. While I managed to earn a decent income, I sought financial advice from my accountant and bank advisers, only to discover that their assistance was limited.

To gain a better understanding of finance, I started attending workshops and seminars, as well as reading books on the subject. Through this process, I discovered the significance of effective cash flow management in running a business. It was during this time that a client suggested I explore studies in financial planning, which led me to embark on my journey as a financial adviser in 2004.

Since then, I have actively provided wealth creation and retirement advice, collaborating with banks and assisting a diverse range of clients, including parents, professionals, and business owners. Through these experiences, I have gained a thorough understanding of my clients’ needs and the value of close collaboration and attentive service.

By prioritizing quality over quantity, I have been able to develop tailored solutions to unique financial challenges. These solutions may involve devising strategies to legally minimize tax obligations, helping individuals make the most of their retirement savings, or providing support to business owners and individuals in meeting their financial needs and protecting themselves from potential setbacks.

Qualifications

I have acquired several qualifications that have equipped me with the knowledge and expertise to serve as a financial adviser. These qualifications include being a Certified Financial Planner™, holding a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning, a Bachelor of Management (Honours) degree, a Graduate Diploma in Arts (Information Science), a Certificate of Education, and other qualifications.

Professional Membership

In addition to my qualifications, I hold memberships with esteemed professional organizations. I am a Fellow Member of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (F Fin) and a CFP® Member of the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA, now FAAA). These memberships reflect my commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism and continuing education in the financial planning field.
